Amelior High Acuity Solutions brought to you by Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS)
Implementations

PCTS works with our clients to achieve not only project success but investment success. The PCTS and client project managers work collaboratively to lead and direct an implementation project team to execute the project plan activities for a successful launch of the Ameliorsoftware.

PCTS employs experienced clinical and technical personnel who understand the significant challenges of bringing operational process improvements to the implementing department. Faced with the dramatic workflow improvements that Amelior patient care systems will bring into the implementing department, careful consideration is exercised when selecting the implementation project team members.

Implementation Project Approach

The PCTS implementation plan is structured to properly prepare the systems and staff for a successful implementation in the shortest time possible. Key project stages are as follows:

  • Project Planning and Kickoff
  • Workflow Analysis–Process Improvement–Data Gathering
  • Hardware/Network Infrastructure
  • HL7 Interface Development and Testing
  • Software/Clinical Configuration and Customization
  • Testing
  • Training
  • Go-live and Shadow Support
  • Project Closure and Transition to Support.

Transition to Support

PCTS provides expert assistance to our client’s staff during the first few weeks after implementation. Once all conversion questions have been answered and approved change requests have been completed, the client project sponsor indicates final approval and the completion of the implementation project.

PCTS account managers continue to support our clients through regular conference calls. Since the account manager participates in the implementation project, this provides a seamless transition from Implementation to Support. In addition, PCTS technical staff is on call 24/7 to resolve any critical technical issues that occur.

Focus on Workflow Analysis-Process Improvement-Data Gathering

Workflow analysis and implementation of process improvements are essential elements in the success of an implementation project and feed directly into the configuration of the Amelior™application. Representatives of each portion of the department’s processes participate in the workflow analysis. A PCTS business analyst facilitates the current state analysis, future state analysis and gap analysis with the client process team.

  • Current State Analysis - The analysis and documentation of current state processes will help identify gaps and redundancies that exist with current processes.
  • Future State Analysis - During the future state analysis, it is determined how the work would flow most effectively through the implementing department and from/to related departments.
  • A Gap Analysis is then performed by the PCTS business analyst in conjunction with client process team to validate future state processes against system functionality to determine where the application can be utilized to improve workflow.
  • Document Policies and Procedures - Once future state processes have been finalized, our clients create/update their department policies and procedures.
  • Data Gathering - During the workflow analysis, data is gathered to customize the application with client specific information and preferences.

Focus on Training

The staff training and orientation for new department procedures associated with the implementation of the Amelior™ solution will take place in three phases at our client’s site to ensure the department will be ready.

  • The first phase, Classroom Training, takes place prior to go-live. All staff members who will utilize the application are required to attend training. The duration of the class depends on the role of the staff being trained. Client super users receive additional training to enable them to provide front-line support to the staff. Training classes are presented by PCTS trainers in conjunction with client super users.
  • The second phase of training, Conversion Training/Shadow Support, will take place the week of go-live. PCTS clinical personnel will be on-site in our client’s department to guide the users, resolve issues, and support our client super users.
  • The third phase of training will take place three to eight weeks after installation. PCTS will provide additional super user training or Shadow Support.
