| Patient Safety |
|
The Amelior ED™ patient care system is a sophisticated and comprehensive clinical support tool that offers clinicians the added protection of an array of automated safety-enhancing tools at point-of-care.
|
| Documentation Quality |
- A foundational component for patient safety is the use of legible and thorough documentation. Amelior ED™ prompts clinicians to produce a more complete medical record. This facilitates clear and accurate communication between care-givers.
|
| Clinical Support Intelligence |
- Automatic derivation of past medical history based upon medication history. For example when a nurse captures that the patient takes phenobarbital, Amelior ED™ will automatically deduce that the patient suffers from seizures.
- Differential diagnoses are generated automatically where clinically appropriate and evidence for and against various diagnostic possibilities is presented to the user for his/her quick review. Time consuming textbook look-up is therefore avoided.
|
| Medications |
- Dosing is automatically calculated based on the age and weight of the patient.
- Medication choices made by the clinical support intelligence take full account of allergies and cross allergies. When a physician tries to manually order a medication to which the patient, based on their allergy history, may be allergic, a suitable warning appears.
- Medication incompatibilities are similarly avoided in automated medicine choices and a physician user is warned if he/she manually orders or prescribes a medicine which may cause an incompatibility problem. Medications contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding female patients are dealt with similarly.
- Amelior ED™ will not prescribe 2 medications when one will suffice.

| Emergency Preparedness |
|
Drawing from the vast emergency medicine database embedded within the Amelior ED™ patient care system, physicians are supported with treatment plans for rare but life-threatening medical conditions that may only be encountered once or twice in a physician’s career such as cyanide poisoning and thyroid storm. The treatment plans for these and other rare encounters are automatically generated within Amelior ED™ saving the physician time which would otherwise be required to look up this information. |
