Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network Implements Automatic Patient and Asset Tracking Software from Patient Care Technology Systems in Perioperative Department
Mission Viejo, CA (April 1, 2008) - Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS), a subsidiary of Consulier Engineering, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSLR), today announced that Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown, Pa., has successfully implemented the Amelior ORTracker® system in its perioperative department. The automatic tracking software was selected to help improve the efficiency of surgical care by visualizing the real-time care status of patients and the location of department resources. The Cedar Crest location is the first of three Lehigh Valley Hospital facilities to implement the software. PCTS will be demonstrating the Amelior ORTracker system at the annual Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Congress from April 1-3 in Anaheim, California in booth #690.
The automatic tracking software was implemented with an ultrasound indoor positioning system from PCTS business partner, Sonitor Technologies Inc. Wireless badges for patients, staff and mobile medical devices use an ultrasound signal to communicate their location to sensors throughout the perioperative department. The real-time location information is collected by the Amelior ORTracker software which uses an advanced perioperative rules engine to identify patient care milestones based on the location, movement and interactions between patients, caregivers and medical devices. Caregivers are able to visualize patient flow using the web-based software without having to manually enter data or rely on telephones and overhead pages to manage their workflow.
“We are excited to be reaching this important milestone with Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest as the first stage of our network-wide commitment to support the perioperative departments at all three Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network campuses,” said Tony Marsico, CEO of PCTS.
The Amelior ORTracker software is part of PCTS’ suite of department-specific and enterprise-wide workflow automation solutions which utilize real-time location data to visualize patient flow enabling busy caregivers to anticipate and manage their workflows. Earlier this year, 3M Track and Trace Solutions announced a strategic teaming partnership with PCTS to bring PCTS’ portfolio of integrated workflow automation solutions to 3M’s customers. The 3M and PCTS teaming partnership spans both technology and go-to-market integration.
